Her birth date was 29 March 1985 in Roswell New Mexico. Gerina Michel Mendoza was her birth name. Gerina Stevenson, the child of Mexican grandparents Rita Stevenson and Alan Stevenson. The mother of two is Mexican American as well as an American through the nationality. Her entire life has been an avid sportsperson. Gerina first started golfing at 15 years of age. Gerina went to Goddard High School for her higher education in high school. In high school she won New Mexico's state golf championship. In addition to playing volleyball, she also competed at the state level. In 2003, she started studying in The University of Texas. In her senior year she won every tournament she participated in. During her undergrad professional career, she took home an award for Conference USA Individual Champion Player of the Year and UTEP Female athlete of the year.
