Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's most acclaimed actors. Her fame is for playing strong characters who are as fragile. Born to a renowned playwright's father, and raised by a single mother who made a living in the field of nursing, she began to take an interest in theater while spending summers with her father and eventually pursuing a degree in acting initially as a student at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Within a mere two years following graduation the actress began her Broadway career. The following year she made her first appearance in film and television. In the years since, she's been appearing in a variety of films, TV plays and stage productions. Her nominations include three Tony Awards, three Academy Awards, five Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and received several awards during her time on the stage. While she has received numerous awards over the years, theater was always her primary passion.
